Membership Benefits and Services

Member Groups in the Youth Network benefit from several group advantages, including the following:

  1. Group training on the design and management of small projects.
  2. Technical and financial assistance for creating an action plan and budget, implementing the action plan, and evaluating activities.
  3. Financial and technical assistance in the design and implementation of a group-led income generation project that will create employment for members and generate enough revenue to sustain the organization independent from outside assistance.
  4. Exchange visits with other HIV+ youth groups within the network to promote the sharing of ideas and experiences and to increase a sense of solidarity among HIV+ youth in the community.

Youth Network

Youth Network members also benefit from opportunities for professional development and personal advancement, which include:

  1. Individual loans for members to start their own small income-generation projects: EFA provides members with technical assistance in implementing their small projects. These loans are paid back either through direct reimbursement or with in-kind repayment such as training other youth in the community on HIV prevention or participating in advocacy campaigns targeting local authorities.
  2. Temporary employment for members: EFA employs promising association members as Technical Assistants in the regional office. Technical Assistants work extensively with Groups in Training, conduct advocacy campaigns with local authorities on the social protection of HIV+ youth, and coordinate educational campaigns to sensitize other youth in the community on the importance of HIV prevention.

Through all Youth Network activities, association members gain leadership skills as they learn how to train other association members, manage money through their income generation activities, and develop social networks outside of their individual communities.
