Association for Support and Assistance (AWALLA)
The Association for Support and Assistance (Association Walindé), or AWALLA, is an association in the town of Amchidé, a high HIV-risk area on Cameroon’s border with Nigeria. Despite the political borders, group members consist of Cameroonians and Nigerians who share a similar culture and local language.
History
AWALLA became an official member of the EFA Youth Empowerment Network in 2008. Today, there are about 20 members of the association. They meet twice a month in one of the association member’s homes. AWALLA’s income generation activity is the cultivation of beans which they house in ABEPSA’s warehouse and sell at the market in Maroua.
