In Mokolo, Youth Association Uses Revenues to Pay for Medical Expenses
As the majority of AJEPSMO members come from rural villages outside of the official borders of Mokolo, members have difficulty with transport to scheduled meetings. In response, AJEPSMO has changed its meeting day to Mokolo’s market day, when the majority of farmers from the rural villages around the area come to the central market to sell their merchandise. Since this switch, the executive office has noted more consistent and higher attendance of members.

The association has also changed its income-generating activity. AJEPSMO is now using a similar methodology as ABEPSA, whereby the association purchases crops at wholesale prices and then allows individual members to sell small quantities at various markets in town. The members keep a percentage of the profits themselves, while giving the remainder to the association for group-wide activities. As a result, some members in need now benefit from association revenues to pay for their medical expenses.
